Students Ahoy!

So the uni year is back on and you’re all getting back into the swing of things. Classes are happening, jugs are being drank and girls are still wearing ripped jean shorts that are 4 sizes too small. Life’s good! But here’s a li’l extra sweetener for you, This year, the amazingly cool kids over at Youngbloods and BADC will be having a double extra plus focus on getting students involved through a whole bunch of different student competitions! Delicious!

For those that aren’t in the know, BADC is in charge of of the BADC Awards, which is Queensland’s premier awards nights for creative communications. For all the time I’ve known it, it’s been the big guns of the Qld ad industries night to shine but, having just spent a bit of time talking with the guys running the awards, I’ve discovered that there’s a Student Award section of the night. Getting a BADC Award is a solid step for any future creative, so keep your eyes peeled for updates (this will be a lot easier when you become a member). Student memberships are only like $25 so pry open your Hot Tuna velcro wallet and splash out.

Now the BADC Awards will be happening at the end of the year, but I know you’ll all be fiending for some mid year judgement, so the amazingly svelte folk at QLD Youngbloods will be (as far as I know) running the 2nd coming of their incredibly successful  “Blood Transfusion” night. It’s run in the same way as ‘The Pitch’ in The Gruen Transfer, except anyone and everyone is invited to have a go at creatively answering the brief that YB’s will put up closer to the event. We’ve got no specific details up yet, but I get the feeling it’ll be happening sooner rather than later to appease the hungry flocks of advertising students.

Again, the best way to hear about this sort of shit is by joining up, so do it or I’ll get this kid to come powerslam you.
